Happy Monday? Unusually, yes….

Monday is usually the most rubbish of days. But not today - in the words of that great philosopher Ice Cube, “today was a good day”. So here, in no particular order, are my reasons to be cheerful….

Finding the perfect pair of jeans (OK, two pairs)…. Buying denim rates highly on my list of traumatic shopping experiences (only beaten by buying a bikini - obviously - and finding a wedding dress). But this lunchtime I had a revelation - in the shape of the lovely Barbara, who works in denim boutique Trilogy (Weymouth Street, London W1 - www.trilogystores.co.uk). Batting away my whiny protestations of being too short and curvy to look good in jeans, she kitted me out in two perfect pairs (Paige skyline ankle Sardinia in mid-blue and Nobody’s straight-leg in navy - write this down, fellow shorties). Both are supremely flattering, cool and comfortable - and while neither came cheap, my rationale is that it’s worth splurging on brilliant basics you’ll wear every day. Barbara’s top tip? Buy slightly on the tight side as jeans always give.
