Behind the scenes

Go behind the scenes of the first of our style guide photoshoots for AW17 and hear from our Creative Director Emma and make-up artist Tahira about their inspirations and styling notes for the season.

Behind The Scenes -01

The Autumn Edit is our first edition of two style guides this season featuring a relevant edit of early season must have's. Our condensed edit is strongly focused on 'buy now wear now' styling, introducing the key seasonal trends and garments to invest in early. Our regular 'Fashion List' makes a come-back with our favourite garments to look out for including ruffles, embroidery and the ‘need to know’ coat. We asked Creative Director Emma her thoughts on the Fashion List and its impact.

This shoot was one of my favourites to style as it's focussed around the key garments, trends and buys that we can't wait to share with our customer.

“I love this shoot for the dark, opulence created by the blue background. We love blue at Trilogy for its association with denim - and navy in particular - so the backdrop really worked perfectly in complimenting the tones used throughout each look."

Our make-up artist Tahira thought these looks should be "Dressed up Denim. Grown up, denim, perfect for work, play or a party."

"I used moody blues to create a dramatic smokey eye that is softer than a traditional black. Paired with a nude lip this is the ultimate chic. I went for a matte lip because it felt right for the shoot, but a nude gloss would be great for daytime."

"One of the best ways to invest in Autumn/Winter early is through colour and print. Our ‘Here & Now Edit' on page 26 highlights lightweight knitwear in a rainbow of colour"

With a bright colour palette of knitwear it was important the looks were not over styled or fussy in this shoot. Authentic blue denim and seasonal dark washes paired back to novelty knitwear to create effortless looks with a dash of colourful fun.

"I chose a vibrant shade of red for the back drop of this shoot to emphasise the importance of colour this season. Red features in a lot of the key knitwear pieces so created a bright and dynamic end result that was also super fun to create! Our model Emma was great at mixing it up on shoot with some fun movement and relaxed poses that reflected the fun and ease of all the looks."

"These Rainbow jumpers are so exciting and fresh, I wanted to makeup to reflect youthful fun, while keeping the sophisticated Trilogy customer in mind." Says make-up artist Tahira.

I opted for an asymmetrical glamorous hairdo, with a tight braid on one side but a classic cascade on the other. Fresh skin with a bold bright lip was a perfect complement to the poppy, graphic jumpers.
